Nyi Pohaci Festival Purwakarta
Like most people who live in the central part of West Java, the pattern of life for the people of Purwakarta Regency is dominated by Sundanese culture. In line with the times marked by developments in information and communication technology, the people of Purwakarta are heavily influenced by foreign cultures. However, the people's culture basically still has the nuances of Sundanese culture and religious values, especially the Islamic religion. A series of activities have been prepared to welcome the 192nd anniversary of Purwakarta and the 55th anniversary of Purwakarta Regency on 20 July 2023. It is hoped that this event will further increase the number of tourists visiting Purwakarta.
This year's birthday celebration takes the theme 'Nyi Pohaci Festival'. Nyi Pohaci in Sundanese society is rice. Meanwhile, in Javanese culture, she is better known as Dewi Sri. The local government wants to remind all elements of society about the benefits and importance of rice for their lives.
"The audience was extraordinary and even enthusiastic. I saw that even 60 booths that prepared putu for free were gone in an instant and I hope the public will understand that," said Anne after the event.
Not only that, the community's enthusiasm was quite visible in the colossal dance of 1,000 jaipong dancers at this festival. Especially when the dancers from all over the Purwakarta dance studio made simultaneous movements.
